    I think this is misinterpreted. The Tibetan Buddhists are sworn to make their lives last as long as they/we can to benefit others, and we also know that the process of death can be a rather tedious, sometimes harrowing -do-over where we have to start again and then maybe take many years to cultivate any wisdom, or we may have a poor death and wind up somewhere that is not what is called ‘a precious human rebirth’ . I do not think that we Tibetan Buddhists all simply fear and feel selfish, but that we have taken actual vows to benefit beings, and having a precious human rebirth with the company of an excellent teacher is considered the best way to do that.
