My response to Sue Vincent’s Thursday photo prompt – Glimpsed – #writephoto
You persist with vigour and arrogance in pursuit of knowledge and secrets of the Universe. Our cries shake the pillars of Heaven, ‘desist Dr Faustus’ we say but your ears are deaf to our entreaties. The Scholar rejects our counsel and heeds not the warnings of damnation and eternal pain. The Beast stirs from the depths of Hell, offering delusion and empty words. What price to your immortal Soul human man? You call down hubris upon your head. What more can we speak of to turn you from the road of oblivion? We watch the Light within your heart dim with each passing day. What of the vision that appears before you now? Helen of Greece, glimpsed once and never to be forgotten. Turn your head Faustus, turn your head. Take the hand that is offered. The Light calls to its child, yet we see you hesitate. Your eyes are blinded by glamour and your ears filled with poison most heinous. What use is the knowledge that you seek. Your books shall turn to dust as shall your bones and flesh. For all eternity shall the Beast reshape your limbs and tear apart your Soul. Such sorrow it causes us, such sorrow. Salvation Offered, Salvation Lost.
